It can be scary and overwhelming when your child or teen is not doing well. You might be noticing changes in their mood, behavior, or relationships and not feel sure what to do next. You’re not alone in that. My approach focuses on supporting your child in session while also helping the whole family feel more confident and equipped at home. Therapy is not just about what happens in our time together, it’s about building skills, understanding patterns, and creating changes that carry into everyday life.

Welcome Caregivers

Children do not need us to shape them. They need us to respond to who they are.

When to consider therapy for your child

You might consider reaching out if your child or teen is experiencing anything from the list below. Even if you are not sure whether therapy is the right step, we can talk through what you’re noticing and what might be helpful during a free consultation call.

More withdrawn, irritable, or overwhelmed than usual

Struggling with anxiety, low mood, or big emotional reactions

Having difficulty at school or with peers

Navigating a significant change or stressful experience

Expressing things that feel concerning or hard to understand

What sessions with your child may look like

Sessions are tailored to your child’s age, personality, and needs. Depending on what works best for them, we may use conversation, creative approaches, or play-based interventions. Sessions are designed to feel engaging, supportive, and at a pace that your child can tolerate, not overly rigid or forced. In sessions, your child may:

Build skills for managing big emotions

Learn how to identify and express what they’re feeling

Process experiences that feel confusing, stressful, or overwhelming

Develop confidence and a stronger sense of self

Increase awareness of their inner world

Parent sessions, coaching, and family therapy

Caregivers are an important part of the process. I work with parents through dedicated sessions and ongoing check-ins to help translate what we’re working on into real life. I ask that all caregivers seeking therapy for their children participate in a minimum of one parent session per month to ensure the best possible outcomes for the child. This may include:

Parent coaching sessions focused on responding to behavior and big emotions

Feedback and guidance based on themes and patterns

Tools to strengthen connection and communication at home

Support navigating school, transitions, and external stressors

Family therapy sessions to improve communication and work through relational patterns together

Collaboration and confidentiality

While I involve parents in the process, it is also important that children and teens have a space where they can speak openly. Because of this, I do not share the specific details of what is said in session.

Instead, I focus on sharing themes, patterns, and recommendations so you can support your child effectively while still allowing them to build trust and safety in therapy.

We will talk together about what this balance looks like so expectations feel clear from the start.
